Dr Waleed Mohammed is a highly regarded Consultant Clinical Oncologist with extensive expertise in the treatment of lung and central nervous system cancers. He combines a strong foundation in scientific research with advanced clinical training, enabling him to deliver innovative and patient-centred cancer care.
Dr Mohammed began his academic career at the University of Cambridge, where he specialised in genetics, before completing a master's degree in biology at the University of Oxford. His early research focused on genetic mechanisms in embryonic development, as well as lysosomal storage disorders and prion diseases, contributing to the understanding of disease biology and potential therapeutic approaches.
Following his work in the pharmaceutical and biomedical research sectors, Dr Mohammed retrained in medicine through the Cambridge Graduate Course in Medicine. He subsequently specialised in clinical oncology, undertaking rigorous postgraduate training at leading institutions such as Imperial College NHS Trust, The Royal Marsden Hospital and The Royal Sussex County Hospital.
In 2020, Dr Mohammed was appointed Consultant Clinical Oncologist at Charing Cross Hospital in London. Here, he has played a key role in implementing advanced radiotherapy services, notably establishing and leading a Stereotactic Ablative Body Radiotherapy (SABR) programme, offering highly precise and effective cancer treatment for primary and oligometastatic cancers.
Clinically, he specialises in thoracic malignancies, including lung cancer, mesothelioma and thymoma as well as benign and malignant tumours of the brain and spine. His expertise spans chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and advanced radiotherapy techniques such as stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), gamma knife and MR-guided treatments. He also delivers Optune (Tumour Treating Fields) therapy for cancers of both the brain and thorax.
Dr Mohammed is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians and a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists, reflecting his commitment to excellence in oncology. He is also actively involved in clinical research and service development, contributing to ongoing improvements in cancer care and patient outcomes.
Dr Mohammed has undertaken Bond Salon Expert Witness Training and can provide expert advice on breach of duty, causation, condition and prognosis and life expectancy.
