Who We Are
Lexmed is a medicolegal company operated by Lexmed T/A Lucil Ltd (registered address: 20-22 Wenlock Road, London, N1 7GU). We connect solicitors and medical reporting agencies with medical experts for expert reports.
For any data-protection questions, please contact us at info@lexmed.co.uk.
What Personal Data We Collect
We collect personal data that you provide directly to us, typically through our enquiry form or by email. This may include:
- Your name
- Company or organisation name
- Email address
- Telephone number
- Details about your enquiry, including the type of case or specialty required
We also collect limited technical data automatically when you use this website, such as the date and time of an enquiry, and — with your consent — anonymised analytics data about pages viewed. Our enquiry form uses Google reCAPTCHA, which collects device and usage information to detect automated spam.
We do not intentionally collect special-category data (such as health information) through this website. Please do not include claimant medical details, case papers or other sensitive information in the enquiry form — we will request these securely once your instruction is under way. Any case details you share here should be limited to what is necessary for us to respond.
How We Use Your Data
We use your personal data to:
- Respond to your enquiry
- Match your case with a suitable medical expert
- Communicate with you about our services
- Maintain records of our interactions for quality and administrative purposes
- Protect our website against spam and misuse
- Understand how our website is used, where you have consented to analytics
We do not use your personal data for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not sell personal data or share it for third-party marketing.
Lawful Basis
We rely on the following lawful bases under UK GDPR:
- Legitimate interests — to respond to enquiries, provide our services, keep business records, and secure our website against spam and abuse.
- Contractual necessity — to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, and to perform that contract.
- Consent — for optional analytics cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time on our Cookie Policy page.
- Legal obligation — where we must keep or disclose records to comply with the law.
How Long We Keep Your Data
We keep enquiry records for as long as necessary to respond to your request, manage any resulting instruction, and comply with our legal and professional obligations.
- Enquiries that do not proceed to an instruction: generally up to two years, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- Records relating to an instruction: generally up to seven years after the matter concludes, reflecting limitation periods and accounting requirements.
- Analytics data: retained by Google Analytics for up to 14 months.
Who We Share Data With
We do not sell personal data. We may share your contact and case details with the medical expert(s) best placed to assist with your enquiry, and with trusted service providers who process data on our behalf under written agreements. Our main processors are:
- Our website hosting and database provider, which stores enquiry submissions
- Our email delivery provider, which sends enquiry notifications to us
- Google (reCAPTCHA for spam protection and, with consent, Google Analytics)
We may also disclose data where required by law, court order or a regulator. All sharing is on a need-to-know basis and under appropriate confidentiality arrangements.
International Transfers
Some of our service providers are based outside the UK. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement / UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask us for details of the safeguards in place.
Your Rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Request erasure of your data in certain circumstances
- Object to or restrict processing
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format, where applicable
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent
To exercise any of these rights, please email us at info@lexmed.co.uk. We will respond within one month. There is normally no charge.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, please contact us first so we can put things right. You also have the right to complain to the UK's supervisory authority, the Information Commissioner's Office, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data from unauthorised access, loss or misuse. These include encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) data transmission, access controls and authentication on our systems, restricting access to enquiry records to authorised personnel, and spam protection on our enquiry form. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
This website is intended for legal and medical professionals. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18 through this site.
Third-Party Links
Our website may link to third-party sites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, and we encourage you to read their privacy notices.
Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to operate this website and to record your cookie preferences, and — only with your consent — Google Analytics cookies. For full details and to change your choice, please see our Cookie Policy.
